Organic farm Vill

“We have only borrowed this world from our children.”

The organic farm Vill, located in the historic village centre of Schlanders (Silandro) in the Vinschgau Valley (Val Venosta), has been family-owned for generations. In 1984, Erich and Anna took over the farm from their parents and continued to run it with great dedication. Today, the responsibility lies in the hands of their eldest son, Kaj, who took over the operation after studying at the agricultural school in Austria and completing his Master of Agriculture in Germany. Even before that, he was closely involved in the farm’s work, primarily focusing on apple cultivation. Since 2017, he has continued the family business with great passion and following his heart – guided by the motto: “We have only borrowed this world from our children.”

Tradition for centuries

Our farm was first mentioned in the 11th century as “Hof am Sand”, as the statue of Saint Nepomuk in front of our gate testifies. In the 16th century, our ancestor Judge Steinberger purchased the farm. We, are now the fourth generation of the Vill family to manage the farm, which has always been in family hands, and we have decided to change the farm’s name.

Demeter farm

The 6.5-hectare farm was converted to fruit growing in the 1960s, as was the case throughout the central and lower Vinschgau Valley (Val Venosta). Following a gradual transition from 1985 to 1989, it has since been managed according to bio-dynamic guidelines – the Demeter standards based on the ideas of Rudolf Steiner.

Farm holidays

When a general renovation of the house was planned in 1995, part of the farm was converted into holiday apartments. Later, our horses joined us, and since then, the organic farm Vill has also been a riding stable. The historical cottage garden and the inner courtyard are a green oasis – perfect for your farm holiday in the Vinschgau Valley (Val Venosta).

Holiday apartments in Schlanders (Silandro)

A place to feel at home

Guests are warmly welcome at our organic farm in Schlanders (Silandro) all year round. In our house, which has been restored using eco-friendly building methods, a family atmosphere and cosy, comfortable apartments await you. We rent a total of four holiday apartments for two to six people. Fully equipped kitchens ensure that you can feel right at home. In the garden, tables and benches invite you to eat together or simply relax.
